Aims and Objectives

Aims: To identify the different ways in which vulnerable adults can be harmed by other people and procedures to follow.


For students to be able to identify and describe;

  • Who is a vulnerable adult
  • Types of abuse – Physical, Sexual, Psychological, Financial/material, Neglect, Discriminatory, Institutional.
  • Signs and indicators of abuse
  • Recognise factors which may increase the risk of abuse
  • The procedures to follow if suspect abuse
  • Work in a way that promotes the dignity and rights of the individual
